The Job
You want to work on something with a purpose and make healthcare more safe and efficient? We are striving to bring innovation to the healthcare industry, aiming towards safer and more efficient cancer screening workflows.
We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to help us build a stable platform that allows radiologists view and annotate X-Rays, MRIs, and CT-scans securely. Our application is written in full-stack Clojure (Clojure for the backend, ClojureScript for the frontend), and our tech stack also includes Postgres and Docker.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health
- Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating to continually improve
- Create software that improves reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our product
- Work closely with our partners (screening units across Germany and the world) to debug connectivity issues and communication bottlenecks
- Collaborate with our business team to ensure our product meets the requirements of internal and external users
- Provide primary operational and troubleshooting support, and head support escalation when necessary
- Document your findings and knowledge so that it can be turned into repeatable actions and then into automation

Basic Qualifications
You are a great fit for our team if this describes you:
- You are self-driven and have an attitude of craftsmanship
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
- Excellent technical and analytical problem-solving skills
- You're interested in Clojure and functional programming and willing to learn it
- You prefer not to relearn things multiple times so you always feel the need of documenting your findings
- Your proficient with Linux and the Unix Shell
- Entrepreneurial mindset: Creative, focused, and not easily discouraged
- An ability to work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is occurring and ambiguity is the norm.
- Structured work style to develop effective solutions with minimal oversight
- Analyze and solve problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with ability to balance competing priorities

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications are just that - even if you don't have all of these, we still want to talk!
- Fluent in German
- Knowledge of Networking topics: IP, DNS, VPN, TCP, etc
- Experience with Cloud Provisioning tools like Terraform and/or config management tools like Ansible
- Experience with Clojure and/or ClojureScript
- Experience with Java and the JVM
- Experience with building SPAs with Javascript (React, Redux, Webpack, etc)
- Experience with sound engineering practices: Git, code reviews, and testing
- Experience using Docker to deploy software to cloud providers (GCP, AWS, OTC, Azure, etc)
- Experience with continuous delivery and automation
- Experience with PostgreSQL
